Automotive Tint Questions
Yes, window tinting is legal in Texas when it meets state requirements. Texas rules include light transmission and reflectance limits for certain vehicle windows. We help customers choose legal tint options based on the vehicle and installation area.
Texas DPS states that the side windows immediately to the right and left of the driver must have a light transmittance value of 25% or more when measured with the original glass and film combined.
Texas allows sunscreening on the windshield above the AS-1 line, or no more than five inches from the top if there is no AS-1 line. Clear, untinted UV film is allowed anywhere on the front windshield.
Most automotive tint appointments are completed the same day. The exact time depends on the vehicle, number of windows, old tint removal, and film type.
Your installer will give you aftercare instructions, but most vehicles need time for the film to cure before rolling the windows down.
